The hot summer weather has wreaked havoc on many of our vehicles. To make sure your vehicle will survive the hot temperatures of summer until Fall’s cooler days arrive, schedule an inspection at your preferred auto center for an inspection of your vehicle. Whether you’re still heading out for a summer road trip, or you just want a reliable vehicle for your short commute to work or school, make sure your vehicle is ready for the road.

So that their customers are driving as safe as possible, this auto shop is providing five tips for you to consider:

  1. Keep up with the recommended vehicle maintenance schedule: Check the condition of the fluids (oil, brake, transmission, steering, etc.), brakes, battery and alternator, lights (interior and exterior), and wiper blades. Replace any worn-out parts or add fresh fluid as needed.
  2. Check the condition of the tires: Inspect your tires for signs of excessive tread wear and have them rotated about every 5,000 to 6,000 miles. Make sure each tire has the right air pressure. If the tread is getting too thin, it’s time for new tires.
  3. Clean out your car: Clean windows and bright lights will make sure you can clearly see and be seen. For better fuel economy, remove unnecessary items from the trunk to lighten the load.
  4. Pack an emergency kit: Keep a roadside emergency kit in the trunk, including blankets, snacks, water, jack and spare tire, jumper cables, flares, and your cell phone charger.
  5. Inspect the radiator and hoses: Make sure the ratio of coolant and water is adequate for hot temperatures, and that the hoses have no cracks or bulges.

Remember: Even with all your planning, an unexpected breakdown could happen. But, you can have peace of mind as you head out the door, knowing that your auto shop has taken good care of your car.
