One of the most overlooked parts of a vehicle when it comes to maintenance is the tires. Simply put, if the tires are not in optimal working order then the vehicle is not going to be able to move. For example, a flat tire will not move. Or, if the tread is low on the tire that will mean that there is no grip on the road, which increases the chances of an accident happening. This said it is very important to know when tire service is needed. The following is a small look at knowing how to tell if you need new tires.

One way to tell if you need new tires is checking the tread yourself. Most tires have a tread requirement to be considered safe. If the tread has fallen below that mark that means that new tires are needed. Another way to tell is if the handling of the car starts to falter. Your car may start to slide with the littlest effort and movement of the steering wheel. When this happens it means that the tread is too low and the grip has gone. This is a sure sign you are in need of new tires.

If you believe that your tires are starting to fail then it is best to go with your instincts and get them replaced so that you know you are driving as safe as possible. If you think something is amiss, it won't take much of your time to get into your auto shop for a quick and easy tire service.
