How do you know if your car is in need of some form of auto electrical service?  If your vehicle is starting to show some of the symptoms below, your vehicle is probably experiencing one of many possible issues associated with electrical components and will need an auto electrical repair.  Take care, as without a little attention, any of these issues can cause car trouble ranging from “slow starts” to a car that does “not start” at all.

  1. Warning Lights – Although we feel some fear when we see warning lights come on, they are actually your friend.   When the “check engine” light comes on, it’s a sign that your auto is not working properly and that it may need some immediate attention in the form of an auto electrical repair.
  2. Dim Lights – When your car’s headlights or interior lights dim off and of, this usually signifies an electrical issue.  If the alternator isn’t working properly, the battery won’t keep a charge to keep your lights burning bright.
  3. Sight, Sound & Smell – If you are hearing unusual sounds or smell strange odors coming from your car’s engine, you will want to have your vehicle checked as soon as possible. A burnt smell or over-heating electrical connections can be the symptom of a serious electrical circuit or fuse malfunction.  You should contact a qualified mechanic for a possible auto electrical repair as soon as possible.
  4. A Dead Battery - A dead battery is a very common failure, especially in the winter months when the temperatures drop low and your car’s lights are on for extended periods of time.  It can also happen when headlights or interior lights are left on without the car running.  Most of the time, a jump-start will take care of the problem.  If this happens, you will want to have the car battery inspected to see if it needs to be replaced.  A strong battery can prevent future repairs to starters and alternators.
  5. Broken or Loose Electrical Connections - A single little wire or connection that is broken can lead to a myriad of electrical malfunctions in your car.  Don’t delay in having an auto electrical service performed on your vehicle.  Sometimes simply reconnecting an on-line fuse or connection can bring life back to your car.
